July 2010 marked the completion of The Brew Creek Centre’s Learning Space. Engineered and constructed with minimal environmental impact the building hosts room for up to 100 people to meet in the sanctuary of the west coast for meetings, dance, contemplative practices and ceremonial gatherings.
The Learning Space incorporates a host of state of the art green construction techniques to achieve its design objective of minimum energy usage without compromising ambiance or aesthetic of the space. The building’s lighting is LED based with motion detector control in most common areas. The building thermal envelope utilizes quadruple glazed, low e argon filled windows with the highest insulating performance available. The walls, roof, and foundation are insulated with soy based, non off-gassing, foam insulation which significantly out performs conventional fiberglass insulation. The building’s automatic heat recovery and ventilation system further minimizes heat loss while providing continuous fresh air for any size group
